Wall
To our knowledge Cellulose Insulation is the only economical way to achieve an R-Value of 3.5 in the typical space a wall cavity provides. Although there are other systems on the market that can achieve the same result, for example higher density polyester and fibreglass batts, these products are significantly more expensive per square meter installed.
To the right of this page is a video demonstrating how our Cellulose Wall Systems are applied. This particular meathod is referred to as 'Wet Spray', however Planet Green can also provide the same product in dry form to allow for faster sealing of the wall cavity. Generally speaking, Wet Spray Insulation will take 2 days to dry after application and should be the last trade to go in before gyprock is applied. Below are the main reasons we believe you should consider Cellulose Wall Insulation for your building;
- Superior Thermal Rating - Up to R 3.5 on most standard frames
- Superior Acoustic Rating - Up to STC .65 on most standard frames
- A "No Gaps" finish
- Class 1 Fire Rating
- Acts as a natural thermal barrier and serves to stop condensation and moisture
- It is an extremely green product, being made entirely from Recycled Paper Pulp
- Uses 20% - 30% less embodied energy to produce when compared to other insulators
- Borates used in the manufacturing process of Cellulose will ensure a natural defence against rodents and pests. For humans and pets however, Boric Acid is generally no more harmful than table salt.
It is important to note that Planet Green does supply all types of Wall Insulation on request, including standard Fiberglass and Earthwool product. However we believe there is no other product on the market quite like Cellulose Wall Spray in giving you the same bang for your buck, especially when you consider all its added features. In relation to price, to achieve a R-Value of 3.5 will typically cost between $7 an $10 per square meter to install, depending on the size of the works and other factors such as access and location.
For many years this product has been widely used in Europe and America for Wall Insulation as thier varience in temperature has traditionally called for insulation materials that do not compromise on performance. As changes in Australian Building Standards now require greater energy efficiency for Wall Construction, we believe Cellulose Wall Spray offers an affordable, safe and environmentally friendly way forward for builders.
